Hispanic evangelical leader the Reverend Samuel Rodriguez appeared to imply Christians should vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump, encouraging them to cast votes for a pro-life, pro-religious freedom party platform, rather than voting on the "personality" of the nominee, which he called "idolatry."
At a simulcast event held at Elevate Life Church in Frisco, Texas on Wednesday, evangelical leaders and public figures urged attendees and watchers to vote.
In a message given via satellite, Rev. Rodriguez told those gathered at Elevate Life and the thousands watching online that they need to vote on "policy," not "personality" on election day. more >>
Pastor Robert Jeffress of the 11,000-member First Baptist Church in Dallas has said that Christians do not have the option of refusing to vote in the upcoming elections on November 8, and compared voting for Republican nominee Donald Trump to voting for other "imperfect" nominees in the past.
Jeffress, an early Trump supporter, said in an op-ed for Fox News that he understands the appeal of staying at home on November 8.
"Not voting allows Christians to avoid both having to make a difficult choice or defending an unpopular choice to disapproving friends or family members. And let's face it, playing the 'conscience card' allows someone to feel holier than other Christians who sully themselves by getting involved in the political process," he suggested. more >>
A person doesn't need to forget in order to forgive, says Saddleback Church senior pastor and best-selling author Rick Warren.
In a devotional published Tuesday morning on Rick Warren's Daily Hope, The Purpose Driven Life author addressed the common cliché "forgive and forget."
"You've heard this phrase over and over: 'Forgive and forget.' There's only one problem with it: You can't do it. It's impossible! You really can't forget a hurt in your life," wrote Warren. more >>
Harvest Christian Fellowship Senior Pastor Greg Laurie has advised a Christian woman married to a non-believer that she shouldn't be trying to convert her husband through all-day sermons, but should instead show him what a real Christian life is like through love.
Laurie took to a Facebook video on Tuesday to answer the question: "I'm married to a non-believer. Can you give me any advice on how to handle him?"
The megachurch pastor admitted that the woman has her work cut out for her, as such marriages are "not an easy thing." more >>
Saddleback Church pastor and best-selling author Rick Warren is telling Christians that they should "personalize" scripture by inserting themselves into certain biblical passages.
In an entry found on Rick Warren's Daily Hope website published Sunday, Warren wrote a meditation centered on the Bible verse Philippians 1:6.
"And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns," reads the verse, as rendered by the New Living Translation, Second Edition. more >>
Pastor Mark Driscoll of Trinity Church in Arizona continued his Halloween-themed video series this week by sharing his experiences with so-called zombie villages in Haiti, and said that depending on how one defines the word, the Bible has plenty to say about zombies.
Driscoll started the video off by talking about his humanitarian work in earthquake-hit Haiti several years ago where he was helping to distribute relief supplies alongside a local ministry.
He said that a fully ordained, Bible-believing and theologically trained pastor who was showing him around gave him quite the shock after he told him that he would keep him away from the "zombie" villages in the area. more >>
